Explore the features and subtleties of indoor and outdoor settings with drawing and acrylic painting through observation and the power and radiant energy of color. Utilize multiple techniques and media to express luminosity, mood, and texture. Learn and practice equipment use, preparation, conceptualization, drawing, and painting.

Media and Techniques:
Experiment with the nuances of perspective, figure/ground relationships, value, color juxtaposition, and building up surfaces to create evocative forms and atmospheric qualities. Using the distinct character and creative possibilities of wet and dry drawing media and acrylic paints, acquire the skills to create volume and depth.

Each session begins with demonstrations based on the subject matter of the day, emphasizing different technical elements for capturing light, shadow and form. Then the class moves to hands-on experimentation accompanied by group discussions, color experiments and one-on-one assistance. We work on studies from direct observation and then move on to develop a dynamic composition for your particular drawing and painting.
